It still has a touch of the sound we're used to but... seems it lost something.
Sounds so foolish.
Lately a lot of bands are loosing the Trip-Hop "purity" (if you want to call it that). Yesterday I heard the new album from Sofa Surfers and it was so boring, so "silly Rock" style. A couple years ago I saw them live here in Portugal and I was expecting the old style, not what they are now.
We need to go back to the roots. This way Trip-Hop may disappear or become something else...
I think there are still bands that preserves that "purity" of the Trip-Hop style (Screenatorium, last album of Morcheeba comes to my mind)
I never was a big fan of Sofa Surfers (And I don't like their new album of course) but it's true that some reference bands (first of all Massive Attack & Portishead) are walking in other paths and this marks the line to others.
Seems that Coldfinger's new album also sounds like this kind of strange pop-rock
:(
indeed
give a try is always an way to know whats new around there, but most of times are downloads that soon will be deleted at first looks(ears).
still, theres some dope solo works that are impressive. carries the personality and singularity of that mind, but worths the effort. i talk about mr.moods. with him i found the trip inside de hop and beats.
